The beach at Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point is, quite simply, stunning! The sand is amazingly delightful.

On our first visit, it was quite hot, but I could easily walk on the beach without shoes. Somehow the sand didn't get scorching hot. And, unlike the beach at Disney Castaway Cay, you don't need swim shoes - no shells or coral on the beach. It is really lovely!

• The family beach and the adult-only Serenity Bay beach share the same beach - there is a clear delineation between the two. (The photo above is the family beach, but the linked photo here gives you a bigger picture.)
• Get a panorama view of the family beach.

The first thing you are going to see when you arrive at Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point is... the pier.

To protect the coral at Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, Disney constructed an innovative pier. It is about a 15-minute walk to get from the ship to the island.

It looks ominous, but... it really isn't that bad. There are great views as your walking -- be sure to stop for a photo.

Some important reminders:

• If you are unable to make the walk, let Guest Services know sooner rather than later - yes, on embarkation day. There will be a queue of people, so... get in the queue sooner rather than later;
• Parents - there are wagons right when you get off the ship to help you with your kids and the pier -- and they are free!
• LATHER UP - Apply your sun protection before leaving the ship. There is no shade on the walk.
• You might consider wearing sneakers and bring your flip flops with you to make the walk a bit more palatable. I wore Crocks and it was fine;
• Wear a hat or a UV umbrella to protect head - the day I was visiting, it was warm;
• You may consider having a backpack as opposed to a tote bag;
• You can purchase water once you get to the island (See the section on Mabrika Cove).
• TOWELS - There are towels once you get to the main area of the island... and you can drop them off there as well;

When guest first step onto land in South Eleuthera, they will be welcomed into Mabrika Cove. 

• Once through the security checkpoint, you can...
• Walk to the Mabrika Cove tram stop. The tram will take you to the other side of the island, where the family beach is located. During the ride, there is an adorable audio informing you about the nature on Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point;
  • There are eight trams that run constantly throughout the day, each seating about 70 guests. 
  • The ride from the Mabrika Cove tram stop to the Goombay tram stop (the main beach and recreation site) takes about 10 to 12 minutes once you are underway;
  • The first car of each tram is wheelchair accessible, with guests able to roll aboard via a ramp.
  • At the moment, walking from the Mabrika area to the Goombay area and were told that this is not currently permitted.
• Before you get to the tram, you can grab a beverage at Mangroves & Go. In the morning, they are often selling water, if you want to get some... as well as other beverages, including adult beverages;
• Also before you get to the tram, there is the First and Last Chance Stand, where you can purchase your first souvenir or sunscreen;
• At Turbot Berth, located to your left after you pass through security, is where you will check in for many Port Adventures;
• Also in Mabrika Cove, you can rent a bicycle or... 
• If you make a right after you get through security, you can check-in for your day at the Mabrika Cove cabanas. These are the 'family' cabanas that look out toward the ship.

Families visiting the island can enjoy the recreation center, dining, shopping, a water playground, and the pristine Bahamian beaches.

• Disney Fun in the Sun Beach Bash: Enjoy a beach party with Disney characters.
• Island Crafts: Participate in craft-making sessions suitable for all ages - and learn about Junkanoo;
• Sights and Sounds of Junkanoo Workshop: Learn about the Bahamian festival of Junkanoo.
• RUSH! A Junkanoo Celebration: Experience the energy of a Junkanoo procession.

For Kids and Teens:

• Disney Lookout Cay Seek and Find: A scavenger hunt challenge for tweens.
• Sand Creature Creations: Teens can learn to create sand sculptures.

Exploration and Discovery:

• Lookout Cay Discovery Trail: A self-paced scavenger hunt highlighting local wildlife, flora, and culture.
• Nature Trails: Hike or bike through trails to explore the island’s natural beauty.

There are three primary food locations on Lookout Cay:

• True-True BBQ
• True-True Too BBQ, and...
• Serenity Bay BBQ. 
• These are equivalent to the Cookies, Cookies Too, and Serenity Bay BBQ locations on Castaway Cay.
• The menus at these venues are very similar.
• There are some vegetarian items on the buffet lines, including impossible burgers and a plant-based curry stew, as well as fruits, veggies, and various salads.
• Disney has been adding some speciality items at Serenity Bay BBQ, where you can now get grilled ahi tuna steak, marinated grilled snapper with lime, and grilled boneless ribeye steak, or a mixed leaf salad.
• There are the same soft drink fountains and soft serve ice cream dispensers that they have on Castaway Cay and on the ships. 

WHERE TO SIT

Each Lookout Cay restaurant is surrounded by several shaded seating areas. They have round picnic tables.

DINING PRO TIP

Watch the time -- the dining areas are open for specific times -- and they close earlier than some people might expect. Pay attention to the times.

ALERGIES

If you have food allergies, you must note this on your pre-boarding Special Services form and choose from a special menu the night before disembarking at Lookout Cay.

THE INFAMOUS FLIES

On early itineraries, there were issues with flies -- and it was an issue. Disney has taken a number of steps - and they seem to be working. On my second visit, there was already a dramatic difference.

There are three main shopping locations at Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point:

• First & Last Chance Stand - This is a small kiosk at Mabrika Cove as soon as you pass security and get on the island. It has a small amount of Disney Lookout Cay merchandise as well as sunscreen and other items;
• Disney T’ings - This is the main shop with Disney and Disney Lookout Cay merchandise. Personally, my favorite are the T-Shirts designed by Bahamian artists and themed to each of the Disney characters.
  • PRO-TIP - Disney T'ings is generally quite busy in the morning and then near the end of the day, but less busy mid-day... if you want to dodge crowds.
• Treasures of Eleuthera - They have items from The Bahamas - and it is better than it sounds. Located right at the center of the family area, this is where you can get merchandise from Bahamians -- coffee among other things. 
  • One of the more special items: Colorful straw bags, including ones with Disney characters... and, you can get your item personalized right there. More - including photos - from Dreams content team at The Dis's DCLFan.com.
• YenSid Travel pro-tips - Much like merchandise at Disney Castaway Cay, you will only find Disney Lookout Cay merchandise on Disney Lookout Cay.

Cabanas on Disney's Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point provide you with a lovely place to retreat. 

• Disney Lookout Cay has two cabana sections: Mabrika Cove Cabanas, designated for families, and Serenity Bay Cabanas, which are for adults only.
• All cabanas book up quickly on a first-come, first-served basis. You can book them when your booking window opens. They are priced for the entire day - more from Dreams' content team at The Dis's DCLFan.com.
• Cabanas are not air-conditioned. They have three walls with the beach side open. There is a counter space and a minifridge stocked with bottled water and soda, inside seating, a main entrance and slatted windows. On the outside deck, there are padded loungers and a table with chairs.
  
• Mabrika Cove cabanas - Curiously, the family cabanas are closer to the ship, but farther from the family beach and most of the activities. You have to take a 15-minute tram ride. BUT... the family cabanas have their own location for food - they had a delicious tuna steak for the cabanas when we were there;
• Serenity Bay Cabanas - These are for guests 18-years and older. The layout is very similar. They are located on the eastern part of the 'main' beach - it is farther away from the drop off location. The beach is connected to the 'family' beach, but, in my experience, there isn't an issue with kids coming to the adult beach. Dining is at Serenity Bay BBQ.
